Sept 3 - Kissell takes aim – Kissell said his idea is to try to unify the district. Hoke County faces different issues than those in the suburban areas surrounding Charlotte. "We are going to put a constituency service office at this end of the district," he said. "So that we can serve the people."

Aug 31 - Hayes, Kissell renew rivalry – "We had events where we sold gas for $1.22 a gallon, which is how much it was when (Hayes) went to Congress, and he called it a gimmick. I don't call helping people a gimmick. It took gas being $4 a gallon to get him to respond … he's had 10 years there, he's voted consistently with Big Oil and against the interests of the consumers."
