Kissell Earns Key Endorsements
NC AFL-CIO & Teachers Endorse Kissell for Congress

BISCOE , N.C. – High School teacher and Democratic candidate for Congress in North Carolina's 8th district announced today that his campaign has received two key endorsements. The first was from the North Carolina AFL-CIO and the second from the North Carolina Association of Educators.
Kissell is a high-school history teacher who left his textile job of 27 years as a result of free trade bills. His leading primary opponent, Iraqi War Veteran Tim Dunn, withdrew from the race last week and endorsed Kissell's campaign. Kissell is vying for the Democratic nomination to challenge Congressman Robin Hayes in November's general election.

The North Carolina State AFL-CIO is an organization made up of local unions from across North Carolina. According to their website, the AFL-CIO unites workers together at a statewide level, giving working people a stronger voice on issues that affect them and their families.
"The AFL-CIO and I stand shoulder to shoulder against the bad trade deals that are devastating North Carolina's economy. The difference between me and Robin Hayes is that he cast the deciding vote to pass CAFTA and I'm for a moratorium on all trade deals until we get back the jobs we've already lost," said Kissell.
The NCAE has more than 70,000 members consisting of educators, administrators, education support personnel, students and retired teachers . NCAE has 130 local units in public school districts, special State schools, and institutions of higher education.
"As a high school teacher, I know the struggles public schools are facing today. Republicans like Robin Hayes are out of touch. Their 'No Child Left Behind Act' is so bad that they cut funding to it. When I'm elected I will vote to fix 'No Child Left Behind' and get back to common-sense public education. Smaller classes, more technology in the classroom and reasonable funding is what our children need in order to be prepared for the jobs of the 21 st century," said Kissell.
