Are North Carolina's Children in your Portfolio, Rep. Hayes?
Congressman Hayes Votes Against Republican Version of SCHIP with "Same Old Tax Hit" on His Portfolio
Friday, October 26, 2007
Biscoe, NC – Rep. Robin Hayes, the opponent of Larry Kissell, Democratic candidate for North Carolina's 8th District, explained his multiple votes against insuring the children of poor and working class families in a news release yesterday as follows:
"This isn't a partisan issue," said Hayes. "Furthermore, I was just as fast to vote against a Republican version of this bill because it too included new taxes on the tobacco industry."
The Fayetteville Observer recently reported Hayes owns about $5 million in Altria stock, the parent company of Philip Morris tobacco, according to his personal disclosure forms. [July 1, 2007]
"I may not own $5 million in tobacco stock, but I know 10 million children of working families that wish just this once Robin Hayes would do his job and represent the people for a change," said Kissell. "Whether it's Bush, his Party or something altogether different, it's never us on his mind in Washington."
