Kissell honors Service Academy appointees
Stanly News & Press - June 25, 2010
On Monday, Congressman Larry Kissell hosted a reception honoring students from the 8th District who received appointments to one of five U.S. Service Academies. The reception was at the Cole Auditorium and Community Center on the campus of Richmond Community College.
Andrew Pribble of Richfield received an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy. Pribble, son of James and Janet Pribble, attended Gray Stone Day School last year. He was unable to attend the reception.
Matthew Revels, a cadet at West Point and native of Stanfield, attended the reception as a guest of the congressman and spoke with the incoming West Point appointees. He attended West Stanly High School before receiving an appointment to the Military Academy. Joining him at the reception were his mother, Stephanie Revels, and grandfather, Calvin Greene, a retired Marine.
“Andrew and Matthew are fine examples of dedication, hard work and outstanding character,” said Kissell, who nominated Pribble for his appointment to West Point.
“The students who receive appointments to the U.S. Service Academies are not only the future leaders of our Armed Services, but of our communities and our nation. I am honored to have nominated such an exceptional person in Andrew. I have the utmost confidence that Andrew and Matthew will represent the 8th District admirably, and make us all proud.”
