The National Federation of Independent Business recently presented U.S. Rep. Larry Kissell with the "Guardian of Small Business" award, for his voting record on small businesses.
A nonprofit, nonpartisan organization founded in 1943, NFIB represents 600,000 members in Washington and all 50 state capitals.
"In the 111th Congress, Larry Kissell proved that he is a champion of small business," said Dan Danner, President and CEO of NFIB. "The Guardian of Small Business Award is a token of the deep appreciation that small business owners have for elected officials who promote and protect their right to own, operate and grow their businesses."
Kissell was also recognized last week by the Business Industry Political Action Committee, who named him a member of their Cornerstone Coalition, made up of 20 members of Congress who have avoided partisan political pressure and maintained a business-friendly record.
"Small business is the backbone and engine of our economy," said Kissell. "I believe government works best when it provides small businesses with the opportunity to succeed, and then gets out of the way."
