U.S. Rep. Larry Kissell today became only the third N.C. Democrat to win the endorsement of the National Rifle Association.

"Larry Kissell's commitment to preserving our Second Amendment freedoms has earned him the ... endorsement," Chris Cox, chairman of NRA's Political Victory Fund said in a statement. "Gun owners and hunters in North Carolina can trust him to fight for their Second Amendment rights."

Congressman Larry Kissell has announced grants to the City of Rockingham and Hamlet Police Department to hire more police officers.
Rockingham will receive $262,840 to fund the salaries and benefits for two additional officers and the Hamlet Police Department will receive $125,211 for one officer. The money will come over three years.
Rockingham Police Chief Robert Voorhees said that the officers hired will be on the current pay level.

On Sept. 11, U.S. Rep. Larry Kissell (NC-08) accompanied agents on patrol of the border between the United States and Mexico and attended a series of briefings held by the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.
Kissell visited the region to see first-hand the efforts being made by USCBP agents to stem illegal immigration and to see better what can be done by the federal government to help America’s southern border.
“Our national security begins at our borders,” said Kissell.
