"The best thing about Larry running again is the ground work is solid - We have

Raleigh, NC – Larry Kissell, the 2006 Democratic candidate for Congress in North Carolina's 8th District, wrapped up a two-week 2008 announcement tour of county conventions and party events in Raleigh this weekend with a reception featuring Congressman Rahm Emanuel, architect of the 2006 Democratic takeover.

"The best thing about Larry running again is the ground work is solid - We have the inspiration, now it's all perspiration," said Rep. Emanuel.

Larry Kissell, a former textile worker of 27 years is now a High School civics teacher in Montgomery County. His grassroots campaign came within 330 votes of defeating multi-millionaire incumbent Republican Robin Hayes in 2006.

Congressman David Price introduced Rep. Emanuel, former Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chair, to the Kissell crowd at the North Carolina Democratic Party's Goodwin House Saturday afternoon.

"I've never seen a more popular outpouring from the Triangle for a Congressional candidate. I must have hosted four receptions in my District for Larry last year and the support continues to build," said Rep. Price.

Rep. Emanuel committed the full financial support of his committees and challenged the crowd to do the same. Also in attendance were North Carolina Rep.'s Etheridge and Miller.

"I'm honored to have your support," said Kissell, "but what hasn't changed and will never change is that this remains a campaign for the people, by the people. Our greatest supporters were always folks that could barely afford to give a five dollar contribution, and that's who I'm called to represent in the House."
