Democrats are planning an Independence Day radio ad campaign against 14 Republican members of Congress, including Rep. Robin Hayes of Concord.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee will run a radio ad criticizing Hayes for voting against veterans benefits.
"Congressman Hayes voted against a $1,500 bonus for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan," says the radio ad. "And Hayes voted against giving all veterans their full disability and retirement benefits."
The ads will begin Monday and run for five days. It is part of a broader campaign that includes targeted e-mail messages and 50,000 telephone calls, according to the party.
The DCCC is trying to help Democrat Larry Kissell, who lost narrowly to Hayes last November, in his expected rematch with Hayes next year.
