Kissell garners endorsement of LCV

BISCOE - Larry Kissell, Democratic candidate for U.S. House District 8, has been endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters (LCV), which works to turn environmental values into public policy.

President Gene Karpinski said LCV is endorsing Kissell for his commitment to reduce global warming and pollution and for embracing the clean, renewable energy of the future, which will bring new "green collar" jobs to revitalize the economy of North Carolina and the nation.

Kissell, a former textile worker turned high school social studies teacher, is an avid cyclist, outdoorsman and conservationist. His family drives a hybrid car and he rides his bike whenever possible.

As a candidate for the U.S. House, Kissell has promised to support legislation to reduce global warming pollution 15-20 percent by 2020 and 80 percent by 2050. He also supports legislation requiring that at least 20 percent of the nation's electricity come from clean, renewable sources by 2020 and legislation to improve energy efficiency in buildings.

Kissell and incumbent Robin Hayes will face off in the November General Election to represent District 8.
