Celebrating National Library Week
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries nd librarians and to promote library use and support.
In honor of National Library Week, April 13-19, we asked people around the area to tell us what they are reading.
* Dr. Samuel DePaul is reading Living a Better Life by Joel Osteen.
* Stanly Regional's Director of Public Relations, Ben Jolly, is reading Peter Jennings; A Reporter's Life.
* Brooks Barnhardt, photographer for the Oakboro Regional Museum, is reading Pretty Poison by Joyce and Jim Lavene.
* Badin Mayor Jim Harrison recently finished 40 Days of Purpose by Rick Warren.
* Locust City Administrator James Inman is reading Flags of Our Fathers by James Bradley.
* Montgomery County schoolteacher and political candidate Larry Kissell is reading Telegraph Days by Larry McMurtry.
* Annabelle Morgan, GOBA president, is reading 20 Themed Tea Parties by Tracy Stern.
* Ron Crawley, business owner and political candidate, is reading An Inconvenient Book by Glenn Beck.
* Pat Long, publisher of The Weekly Post just finished reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith.
* CEO and President of the Stanly County Chamber of Commerce, Tom Ramseur is reading Joel Osteen's Become a Better You.
