Poll: Kissell catching Hayes
Democrat Larry Kissell has nearly pulled even with Republican Rep. Robin Hayes in the 8th Congressional District campaign, according to a new poll.
Hayes holds a 47 percent to 46 percent lead over Kissell, a Biscoe school teacher, according to a survey by OnPoint Polling and Research that was released Thursday.
The poll suggested that the page scandal involving former Florida congressman Mark Foley was having an effect.
The same polling firm found Hayes leading Kissell by a 44 percent to 29 percent margin Aug. 16.
The latest poll was conducted Wednesday, surveyed 594 likely voters and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
OnPoint Polling and Research is a Raleigh polling firm with Democratic Party connections.
